Shrimp Fried Rice Recipe

Shrimp Fried Rice is a Chinese takeout classic that can also be a healthy option. Delicious and easy to make, I'll show you a great way to cook up some fried rice at home.

Serving Size: 4

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb. of shrimp
  2. 3.5 cups of cooked, dried rice
  3. 1 tsp salt
  4. 1 tsp black pepper
  5. 1/2 tbs of Chinese chili powder (paprika substitute okay)
  6. 1/2 a large white onions
  7. 2 large, diced carrots
  8. 1/3 cup frozen peas
  9. 8 pieces of green onions
  10. 2 eggs
  11. 5 garlic cloves
  12. 2 tbsp soy sauce
  13. 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  14. 1-2 tsp of sesame oil (add more if you like the flavor of sesame oil. I'll sometimes even go for a whole tablespoon)

Directions

  1. Use day old, dried rice and break up the rice by hand till rice is in single pieces. You can add oil to your hands to make it easier. After, set aside in bowl.
  2. To a bowl, add in shrimp, salt, black pepper, and Chinese chili powder.
  3. On a medium head wok or skillet, add in 1 tbs of oil and shrimp. Cook for about 4-5 minutes total till shrimp is cooked. Remove and place aside.
  4. In the same wok, add in onions and carrots and cook down for about 5-6 minutes till soften.
  5. Add in garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes till fragrant.
  6. Add in peas and green onions and cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Push everything to the side and add in your 2 eggs and cook till you have scrambled eggs. Mix everything together.
  8. Add in your rice and mix for another 1-2 minutes till rice is toasty and warmed up.
  9. Add in your shrimp.
  10. Add in your soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Add in your soy sauce around the wok. Mix well.
  11. Top with some green onions and enjoy!
